Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing
TSMC, founded in 1987, is the world's leading dedicated semiconductor foundry, manufacturing advanced chips for over 500 customers at fabs in Taiwan, the US, Japan and Germany.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) is the world's first and largest dedicated semiconductor foundry. Founded in 1987 by Dr. Morris Chang, a veteran of Texas Instruments, the company pioneered the pure-play foundry model: it designs and manufactures no chips of its own, but fabricates them under contract for fabless companies and Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs). It now commands a majority share of the global semiconductor foundry market.
The company serves more than 500 customers worldwide and produces chips at advanced process nodes including N2, N3 and N4 and beyond. Its output powers nearly 11,000 electronic products, spanning smartphones, cloud data centres, aerospace applications and consumer devices. TSMC employs over 55,000 people and is the world's largest non-U.S. company by market capitalisation.
TSMC's headquarters are in Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan. Its fabrication facilities are located in Taiwan, the United States (Arizona), Japan and Germany, giving technical staff access to leading-edge manufacturing operations across Asia, Europe and North America. The company is regarded as an indispensable partner to the global technology industry.
