ROCKWOOL

ROCKWOOL manufactures stone wool insulation made from melted basalt rock, serving construction, industrial, marine and horticultural markets across 40 countries.

ROCKWOOL is the world's leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation. The process is elemental: basalt rock is melted at extremely high temperatures and spun into wool fibres, producing insulation used across residential and commercial construction, industrial applications, marine vessels, offshore platforms and horticultural growing media. The company was founded in Denmark in 1937 and now employs more than 12,000 people, with operations in 40 countries.

The technical work spans stone wool manufacturing, materials science and high-temperature basalt melting and fibre spinning. Products are engineered around thermal insulation, fire resistance, acoustic absorption and moisture management - a set of design principles that shape both the product range and the engineering problems the company works on.

ROCKWOOL remains a Danish family business, now more than 85 years old. Its stated purpose is to release the natural power of stone to enrich modern living, with an emphasis on sustainability, durable built environments and long-term, intergenerational impact. The company describes its values as empowering people to rise to societal development challenges.
