Pinterest is a global visual discovery platform founded in 2009 by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp. The service lets users search, save and shop ideas across home décor, fashion, recipes, travel and other categories, and the Pinterest Platform draws nearly 500 million monthly users worldwide. The company, which started as a small start-up in San Francisco, went public in April 2019.

Engineering work spans visual discovery, recommendation and search technology, content curation and e-commerce integration, supporting a platform that serves users across North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Bill Ready, formerly President of Commerce at Google, became chief executive in 2022, with co-founder Ben Silbermann taking the role of the company's first executive chairman.

Offices are located in San Francisco, New York, London, Dublin, Tokyo, São Paulo and Singapore. Work is organised under PinFlex, a flexible model that allows staff to work from home or collaborate in person where it drives greater impact.
