Palmstreet
Palmstreet runs a live-commerce marketplace for plants, handmade crafts, crystals, reptiles and collectibles, with real-time video sales and chat; founded 2020, ~50-person remote team, 2m+ users.
Palmstreet operates a live-commerce marketplace it describes as the "World's Online Main Street", where buyers and sellers connect over shared interests in rare plants, handmade crafts, crystals and minerals, reptiles and exotic pets, and other collectibles. Sellers run live-streamed sales; buyers ask questions in real time through chat and hear the stories behind individual items. The platform has attracted more than 2 million collectors and sellers since its launch.
Founded in 2020, Palmstreet began as a plant-identification app before evolving into a live-commerce marketplace. That origin still shapes its technical work: the company builds mobile applications, live-streaming and real-time interaction systems, marketplace infrastructure and computer vision for plant identification. Its investors include a16z, Craft Ventures and Headline.
The company employs about 50 people and operates as a distributed team that works from everywhere, with no single physical location. Palmstreet describes its ethos as community-first rather than that of a "faceless marketplace", with an emphasis on authentic human connection and on supporting businesses of all sizes on the platform.
