Odyssey

Odyssey is an AI research lab, founded in 2023, building causal, multimodal world models that simulate the world, including real-time interactive video and multi-agent systems.

Odyssey is an artificial-intelligence research lab founded in 2023 that develops general world models - causal, multimodal systems designed to learn, understand and simulate the world. The company works across foundation models, generative and multimodal AI, real-time video generation, physics simulation and multi-agent simulation, and applies its research to fields including autonomous systems and self-driving vehicles. It is based online at odyssey.ml.

Its product line includes Odyssey-2, a general-purpose world model that generates interactive video streams in real time at 20 frames per second, and Odyssey-2 Max, which advances state-of-the-art physics accuracy for general world simulation. Starchild-1 is described as the first real-time multimodal world model, while Agora-1 is a multi-agent world model that allows several participants to share and interact within the same simulated world.

The company was founded by self-driving pioneers Oliver Cameron and Jeff Hawke and is staffed by researchers recruited from institutions including DeepMind, Tesla, Waymo, Meta, Apple and Wayve, with team contributions to DeepMind Gemini, DeepMind Veo, Wayve GAIA and Tesla FSD. Investors include Amazon, GV, AMD, NVIDIA and Natural Capital. The team holds the view that world models will become a new class of foundation model.
