Indiana Wesleyan University
Christ-centred private university in Marion, Indiana, offering residential, online and seminary programmes to more than 14,000 students.
Indiana Wesleyan University is a Christ-centred private university headquartered in Marion, Indiana, and affiliated with The Wesleyan Church. Founded in 1920 as Marion College, it has served students for more than a century and is now Indiana's largest private university, with over 14,000 students enrolled. It is recognised as a top-tier Midwest Regional University and draws students from more than 80 Christian denominations as well as other faith backgrounds.
Education is delivered through three strands: residential campus programmes in Marion, online degree programmes for students outside the campus, and Wesley Seminary, which prepares students for ministry. Together these cover undergraduate, distance and theological education, extending the university's reach across the Midwest and through distributed online delivery.
The institution describes itself as an academic community rather than simply a provider of degrees, with an emphasis on developing students in character, scholarship and leadership and on their contribution to the wider world. Faculty and staff are expected to be committed to student growth, and the university states that its mission matters more to it than its size. Its stated purpose is to prepare graduates who make a genuine difference in their communities and professions.
