Hypersonica

Anglo-German defence and aerospace firm developing hypersonic systems for military and civilian use, including Europe's first privately funded hypersonic missile prototype.

Hypersonica is a mission-driven Anglo-German defence and aerospace company developing next-generation hypersonic systems for military and civilian applications. It is headquartered in the Munich area of Germany, with a wholly owned subsidiary in London, positioning it at what the company describes as the intersection of two major European centres of hypersonic expertise. The firm was founded by University of Oxford PhDs and works across hypersonic systems, aerospace engineering, missile systems, modular hardware architecture and space launch systems.

Its flagship programme is Europe's first privately funded hypersonic missile prototype, built for deep precision strike applications. A test flight at Andøya Space, Norway, in February 2026 achieved speeds exceeding Mach 6. The prototype uses a modular architecture intended to compress development timelines from years to months, and the company reports cost reductions of over 80% on the programme. Work is also under way on autonomous space-access concepts, with applications in both military deep precision strike and civil space flight.

The stated mission is to equip Europe with sovereign technological capabilities to deter military aggression and to uphold freedom and independence. The working culture is built around rapid iteration from design to flight-ready hardware and a dual-use focus spanning military and civilian markets. Technical domains in which the company operates include hypersonic systems, aerospace engineering, defence technology, missile systems, modular hardware architecture, autonomous space access and space launch systems.
