HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær

HBK provides test and measurement solutions - from sensors and transducers to data acquisition and analysis software - for sound, vibration, electrical and mechanical quantities.

HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær is a test and measurement company formed in 2019 through the merger of HBM and Brüel & Kjær, two organisations with a combined history of over 80 years in precision measurement. The company covers the entire measurement chain, from sensors and transducers to data acquisition systems, analysis software and simulation tools, addressing sound, vibration, electrical and mechanical quantities. It is headquartered in London, with major operations in Darmstadt, Germany, and Virum, Denmark, and a presence in more than 30 countries. Headcount is between 1,001 and 5,000.

The product portfolio spans load cells, strain gauges, transducers, acoustic measurement microphones, power analyzers and vibration testing equipment, alongside data acquisition systems and specialist software. Two named software lines serve particular engineering disciplines: nCode for durability analysis and ReliaSoft for reliability engineering. Technical work covers frequency domain analysis, time domain analysis, durability and reliability engineering.

HBK retains a degree of domain specialisation inherited from its constituent companies, with Brüel & Kjær associated with frequency domain expertise and HBM with time domain expertise. The company's stated focus is on helping customers reduce time-to-market through integrated testing and simulation. Its customers operate in industries including automotive, aerospace, defence, energy, manufacturing and audio.
