Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd. designs, manufactures and commercialises lithium-ion batteries, with operations spanning new energy battery R&D, production and recycling. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Hefei, Anhui, the company was among China's earliest enterprises to develop and commercialise new energy batteries independently, and among the first Chinese battery makers to list on capital markets. Its work covers the full industrial chain, from cathode and anheode materials, precursors, copper foil, separators and electrolytes through to battery cells, battery systems and end-of-life recycling.

The company's principal products are power lithium batteries for new energy vehicles and energy storage lithium battery products and solutions; a third segment covers power transmission and distribution equipment. Gotion ranked TOP 7 globally and TOP 4 domestically for power battery installations in 2024. It ranks TOP 1 in communication energy storage lithium battery shipments and TOP 7 globally in total energy storage lithium battery shipments. Technical domains include battery cell manufacturing, battery systems, energy storage technology and battery recycling.

Gotion operates eight R&D centres worldwide, with a presence in Hefei, Shanghai, Cleveland, Silicon Valley, Tsukuba, Singapore, Göttingen and Pune. In 2020 Volkswagen Group took a 24% stake in the company through a $1.1 billion strategic investment. The company states a commitment to supporting China's dual-carbon goals and to vertical integration across the battery supply chain. Its work serves customers in new energy vehicles, energy storage, telecommunications, power transmission and distribution, and battery materials.
