Doctrine is a legal AI platform founded in 2016 that organises legal information and automates repetitive legal work, including case analysis, legal research and document drafting, for legal professionals. The company describes its position as Europe's leading legal AI platform, serving more than 25,000 legal professionals across France, Italy, Germany and Luxembourg, with Spain forthcoming. It began as an open data initiative in France.

Two products sit at the core of the business. The Doctrine Platform tailors its automation to each country's legal system, language and workflows. Beneath it lies Legal Graph, a proprietary technology that structures legal information as a network of links - some 200 million of them - updated in real time and adapted to national legal frameworks. Engineering work spans artificial intelligence and generative AI, legal knowledge graphs, data engineering, natural language processing and information retrieval.

The company states a mission to democratise legal knowledge and to free legal minds from repetitive tasks so they can focus on more meaningful work. Operations are ISO27001 certified and compliant with guidance from the CNIL, the French data protection authority, reflecting an emphasis on privacy, security and data protection. Doctrine is headquartered in Paris and serves law firms and corporate legal teams across the legal and legal technology sectors.
