Anysphere develops Cursor, an AI-powered code editor built as a fork of Visual Studio Code. The product combines intelligent autocomplete, codebase understanding and autonomous agents capable of writing, modifying and debugging code, and it integrates models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and xAI. Cursor is used by millions of professional developers and by more than half of the Fortune 500, with customers including Stripe, OpenAI and NVIDIA, and is SOC 2 certified.
The engineering agenda is research-heavy. The team builds state-of-the-art models for next-edit prediction, operates retrieval systems that index multi-billion-file codebases, and applies speculative inference to accelerate large-scale code rewrites. Work spans AI-assisted software development, large language model integration and enterprise security.
Cursor is staffed by a team of engineers and researchers; headcount and founding details are not disclosed. The company describes its ambition as building a tool that will one day write all the world's software.
