Crisis Prevention Institute
Crisis Prevention Institute, founded in 1980, provides evidence-based de-escalation, crisis prevention and dementia care training to professionals worldwide through train-the-trainer programmes.
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) is an evidence-based training organisation founded in 1980. It teaches professionals to recognise, prevent and respond to workplace crises, and describes itself as the worldwide leader in de-escalation, crisis prevention and dementia care services. Its programmes have trained more than 17m people globally across education, healthcare, behavioural health, long-term care, human services, security, corporate and retail settings.
Three offerings make up the core of the business: Crisis Prevention & De-escalation Training Programs, which build the skills to manage workplace conflict; Dementia Care Services, which complement the crisis prevention work; and a Train-the-Trainer Program, in which trainers are certified to deliver CPI material themselves. Through that model, more than 1,500 training seminars are conducted each year. The company operates worldwide.
For staff, CPI describes a culture built on the philosophy of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security for everyone, with emphasis on empathy, meaningful connection and personal safety. The work is mission-driven and oriented towards reducing conflict and changing behaviour. Employees are offered progression from entry-level roles through to executive leadership, in what the company characterises as a fast-growing organisation providing significant career experience.
