CORE Electric Cooperative is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric distribution utility serving communities along Colorado's Front Range. Founded in 1938, it is the largest member-owned electric distribution cooperative in Colorado, delivering service to nearly 400,000 residents across a service area of nearly 5,000 square miles, including parts of El Paso County and Weld County.
Its core business is reliable, affordable, clean and safe electric distribution. Beyond distribution, the cooperative invests in renewable energy initiatives and runs energy efficiency programmes to help members reduce consumption. It also supports community development through education grants, electrical safety education and business development services.
As a cooperative, CORE is governed by its members, who elect the Board of Directors and have a voice in organisational decisions. Technical work spans electric power distribution, renewable energy, energy efficiency, infrastructure improvement and electrical safety education. The organisation reports heavy investment in infrastructure improvements and clean energy, and describes its purpose as connecting lives and communities through choice and innovation.
