College Board

College Board is a not-for-profit membership organisation, founded in 1900, that runs the SAT, AP, BigFuture and other programmes connecting students to college and career.

College Board is a mission-driven not-for-profit membership organisation founded in 1900 to expand access to higher education. It connects students to college success, helping them navigate the path from high school to college and career. The organisation reaches more than 7 million students annually and has been in operation for more than 120 years.

Its work spans a portfolio of assessment, coursework and planning programmes. These include the SAT, a college admissions assessment intended to expand opportunity and help students build needed skills, and AP (Advanced Placement), which offers college-level coursework in high school. BigFuture helps students plan for college, pay for college and explore careers.

Further programmes support students at other points in their educational journey: CLEP, a college-level exam credit programme; ACCUPLACER, a placement assessment; and SpringBoard and Pre-AP, curriculum and advancement programmes. The organisation operates across education, higher education, college admissions, student assessment and placement, and career and college planning.

College Board's stated orientation is that of a membership organisation focused on expanding access to higher education. More information is available at collegeboard.org.
