Child Mind Institute

An independent non-profit providing clinical care, free family education and neuroscience research on children's mental health and learning disorders.

The Child Mind Institute is an independent national non-profit working on children's mental health and learning disorders. It operates through three connected mission areas: clinical care, education and science. Clinical services are delivered at centres in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, both in person and by telehealth, and treat thousands of children a year. The organisation declines pharmaceutical funding, which it states is intended to keep its work focused on children's wellbeing.

Its educational arm runs programmes for families and professionals, and maintains the Family Resource Center, a free online library covering ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, behaviour problems and screen-time issues, which reaches millions of families annually. Its research arm conducts neuroscience studies of children's mental health and learning disorders. The Healthy Brain Network, one such initiative, has enrolled more than 8,500 children, each of whom receives a diagnostic evaluation at no cost.

Work at the institute spans neuroscience research, clinical psychology and psychiatry, evidence-based treatment, telehealth, diagnostic evaluation and public education. The organisation also partners with clinical counterparts across five continents, extending evidence-based treatment beyond the United States.
