Celer Network

Celer Network builds a blockchain interoperability protocol that allows assets, data and application logic to move between chains. Its work spans cross-chain messaging, decentralised asset bridging, layer-2 rollups and shared-state application design, with the stated aim of making multi-chain applications as straightforward to use as single-chain ones. The protocol supports tokens, DeFi, GameFi, NFTs and governance across more than 40 blockchains and layer-2 rollups.

Two products carry most of the traffic. cBridge, a decentralised asset bridge built on the Celer architecture, has handled over $14bn in cross-chain transfers for more than 540,000 unique users. Celer IM, the inter-chain messaging framework, lets developers build applications with shared states and coherent logic across chains while using liquidity more efficiently. Underneath both sit MessageBus contracts deployed on each supported chain and the State Guardian Network (SGN), a Tendermint-based relayer blockchain that secures and relays cross-chain messages.

The team combines researchers holding PhDs from institutions including MIT, UC Berkeley, Princeton and UIUC with experienced industry engineers. Technical work concentrates on distributed systems, smart contracts, liquidity optimisation and layer-2 scaling. The stated mission is to bring internet-scale performance to every blockchain, with an emphasis on security, low cost and usability.
