Boeing Employees' Credit Union

Member-owned, not-for-profit credit union founded in 1935, offering banking, lending, wealth and business services to over 1.5 million members.

Boeing Employees' Credit Union (BECU) is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative headquartered in Tukwila, Washington. Founded in 1935 by a small group of Boeing employees who pooled $9 in capital and issued a first loan of $2.50 to help a coworker buy tools, it now serves over 1.5 million members and manages more than $30 billion in assets, placing it among the largest credit unions in the United States.

BECU offers a full range of financial services: checking and savings accounts, credit cards, auto and home loans, business banking, and investment and trust services. Alongside these products, the organisation runs financial education seminars and webinars, scholarships and community grants, and conducts its charitable work through the BECU Foundation. Earnings are returned to members through better rates, lower fees and community investment rather than distributed to outside shareholders.

The credit union describes its guiding philosophy as "people helping people", with every member an owner. Its stated focus is on inclusion, empowerment and building a culture in which employees and members can grow. Operations are based in the United States, with headquarters in Tukwila, Washington.
