Aetherflux
Aetherflux (now Cowboy Space Corporation) builds Low Earth Orbit satellite constellations that harvest solar energy and beam it to Earth by infrared laser to power AI workloads and other energy needs.
Aetherflux, an American aerospace and energy company now operating under the name Cowboy Space Corporation, is building a space-based power grid. The company develops constellations of satellites in Low Earth Orbit that harvest solar energy and transmit it to Earth using infrared lasers, with the aim of delivering renewable power to AI data centres and other energy needs anywhere on the planet. It was founded in 2024 by Baiju Bhatt, co-founder of Robinhood, and is headquartered in San Carlos, California.
Its technical work spans space-based solar power, satellite constellation design, infrared laser power transmission, optical data transmission and satellite computing. Two product lines are under development: an orbital power station constellation intended to beam solar energy to Earth, with a first space demonstration targeted for 2026; and an integrated system combining high-performance satellite computing with optical data transmission, supporting both energy delivery and computation. Target sectors include aerospace, energy generation, AI infrastructure and data centres, defence, mining and space technology.
The company has raised $50M in Series A funding, backed among others by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and has been reported to be in discussions for a $250-350M Series B at a $2B valuation. Energy delivery is conceived as global in scope. Work is mission-driven in character, focused on the energy constraints facing AI data centres, and the engineering agenda is unusually broad, spanning power systems, optics, orbital hardware and computing infrastructure.
