Role Scope:
The Chief of Staff (CoS) is a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, responsible for driving cross-functional initiatives, improving organizational efficiency, and ensuring alignment across departments. In this fast-paced, high-growth environment, the CoS will wear multiple hats — from strategic planner to operational executor — and play a pivotal role in scaling the company. This individual will play a critical role in driving forward top company priorities, owning the company planning process, supporting investor and board engagement, and ensuring the organization operates with focus and clarity. This is a unique opportunity for someone with 5–7 years of experience to step into a high-impact role at the center of a growing, mission-driven company.
Core Responsibilities & Expectations:
Strategic and Enterprise Business Operations:
- Lead annual and quarterly planning processes across the organization.
- Partner with functional leaders to define goals, surface resource needs, and track performance.
- Identify and implement scalable enterprise processes to drive efficiency.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting frameworks and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making and alignment with strategic goals.
- Scope new initiatives, build the supporting process framework, and prioritize accordingly.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase operational efficiency and scale.
CEO & Leadership Team Support:
- Act as a trusted thought partner to the CEO and executive team.
- Facilitate leadership meetings, drive agendas, capture outcomes, and ensure timely execution of follow-ups.
- Serve as a liaison between the CEO and other internal/external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and alignment.
- Prepare high-quality internal and external communications on behalf of the CEO.
- Serve as a connective tissue between teams to eliminate silos, remove roadblocks, and accelerate decision-making.
- Lead thought leadership on prevalent healthcare topics
- Develop industry relationships with peers and healthcare associations as the face of Habitat Health
Investor Relations & Board Management:
- Own the end-to-end process for board meetings, including agenda development, content creation, coordination with leadership, and follow-up actions.
- Support the CEO and leadership in preparation for investor updates and fundraising materials.
- Ensure timely, clear, and accurate communication of company performance and milestones to investors and board members.
Internal Communications & Culture:
- Ensure alignment and effective communication across departments.
- Partner with People and Ops teams to strengthen company culture and promote organizational health.
Experience that drives success in this role:
- 5–7+ years of experience in management consulting, strategic operations, business operations, preferably within early-stage, high-growth healthcare startups.
- Proven experience with company planning, OKRs/KPIs, and/or operational reporting.
- Deep understanding of the healthcare industry, including common regulatory environments and operational complexity.
- Strong writing and communication skills; able to synthesize complex topics into concise materials for executive and external audiences.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Able to influence across all levels of the organization and build strong relationships.
- Ability to navigate complex corporate structures and align competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills to track performance metrics and drive improvements.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change often experienced in a startup environment.
Nice to have experience:
- Experience at early-stage healthcare startups.
- Experience supporting board-level or investor-facing communications.
- MBA or other advanced degree is a plus but not required.
Compensation:
We consider an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining a final rate of pay. The expected annual salary range for this role is $144,000 - $199,000 and is a bonus-eligible position. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location.
