Project Description
CDER OCS Connect Portal serves as a comprehensive enterprise system designed to seamlessly link CDER’s diverse review communities with critical services, tools, training, and innovative solutions necessary for streamlining regulatory review processes. The Portal enhances the accessibility of analytical services through automated, intelligent workflows built on the Appian platform, fostering more efficient interactions between reviewers and solution providers. A central goal of the Portal is the continuous optimization and evolution of the user experience. This includes proactively identifying and incorporating emerging industry trends, as well as leveraging internal FDA insights, to refine the platform's capabilities. By doing so, OCS Connect ensures that it remains responsive to the ever-changing needs of its users, maintaining a high standard of support for regulatory review activities.
Job Summary
DRT is seeking a highly experienced UI/UX Designer to support the development of user interface designs that meet Section 508 accessibility standards, reflect insights from user research, and support seamless interaction between users and system functionality. This includes conducting user research to gather feedback from key stakeholders and platform users and improving its visual appeal, usability, and responsiveness, with a focus on user-centered design principles.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product owners and various stakeholders to define the UI/UX user stories/features.
- Evolve the platform into a more user-centric solution by refining its design and seamlessly integrating tools, analytics, and training.
- Collaborate with the Government team to ensure the platform evolves to maintain a cohesive, efficient, and user-friendly interface that optimizes access to resources and services.
- Conduct user research to gather feedback from key stakeholders and platform users. This will include surveys, interviews, and usability testing to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze current usage patterns, identifying key areas where the UX can be improved to make the platform more intuitive.
- Evolve the OCS Connect Web layer’s user interface, improving its visual appeal, usability, and responsiveness, with a focus on user-centered design principles.
- Ensure the interface remains intuitive and consistent across various devices, screen sizes, and use cases, addressing user feedback and adapting to new needs as they arise.
- Integrate new and existing tools, training resources, and analytics seamlessly within the platform, ensuring that these components are easily accessible and contribute to a unified user experience.
- Ensure that updates and new integrations are properly tested and optimized to maintain a cohesive experience for users.
- Perform ongoing usability testing to evaluate the effectiveness of design updates and integrated features, gathering feedback from end users and stakeholders.
- Adapt and refine the user interface based on feedback and performance metrics, ensuring that the platform evolves to meet changing user needs.
- Deliver the final, enhanced UI/UX design, incorporating improvements based on iterative testing and feedback.
- Provide comprehensive documentation on the design evolution, user flows, integration processes.
- Support other project activities and DRT activities as directed by Project Manager and/or Portfolio Manager.
Require Experience:
- Must have at least 10 years of experience in user experience and user interface design and implementation for complex, enterprise-level applications.
- Must have experience with designing UI/UX for low code platform (e.g. Appian, SalesForce), adhering to Human-Centered Design.
- Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teams
- Experience with Agile methodology and ability to own the UI/UX backlog, schedule and ensures that project teams deliver high quality work consistently and on time when necessary.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with designing applications for federal agencies (e.g., FDA).
Education & Training:
- Bachelor's Degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), or related fields such as Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Arts, or Computer Science.
- UI/UX Design Certifications (Preferred)
Hourly Rate Range:
- $34-44 an hour
- Rate commensurate with experience.
