Your role as an Analyst, Business Strategy & Analytics:
The Padres Business Strategy & Analytics team is responsible for providing the data, reporting, and analytics that empower the organization to make its best decisions. This analyst will partner with stakeholders in sales, marketing, and corporate partnerships to fulfill requests, enhance analytical forecasts and models, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
- Exemplify our Padres Core Values/Mission Statement: Communication and Collaboration, Progress and Innovation, Accountability and Integrity, and Effort and Results, through building meaningful connections with a diverse fan base and serving as impactful leaders in the San Diego community
- Design and maintain dashboards tracking key metrics for use by decisionmakers across departments
- Build narratives through data to tell the story of performance, opportunities, and outcomes
- Uncover fan insights by creating and reporting on market research, including custom surveying, syndicated research, and other channels
- Fulfill recurring and ad hoc data/report requests in an accurate, timely, and reliable manner
- Serve as a key organizational resource for solving business problems through analytics and process design
- Track digital performance metrics including streaming analytics for Padres.TV
- Collaborate on strategic projects, model creation and validation, and process automation initiatives
- Create and deliver presentations to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
- Work independently or with a team on low to mid-complexity projects and with guidance on complex projects
- Other job duties as necessary
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
- Ability to explain process, decisions, and outcomes to audiences with varying levels of technical and quantitative knowledge
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau (preferred), PowerBI, Looker, or Domo
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to concurrently work on multiple time-sensitive projects
- Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM, etc., and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, laser printer, telephone, and computer
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
- Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
- Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
You will be required to meet the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (mathematics, statistics, business, finance, computer science, econometrics, etc.) or equivalent professional experience
- Practical experience with relational databases and relevant scripting and querying languages or tools (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, Stata, etc.)
- Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed
- Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds
- As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Pay and additional compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law, the base hourly range for this full-time position is $24.04 to $26.45. As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
