The position
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join the Computational Science team as a Computational Research Associate to support and maintain AI Proteins’ computer systems, including the office network equipment, user computers, and associated software for data processing and retrieval across devices. The individual in this position will play a key role in developing and maintaining AI Proteins’ computational infrastructure and will work closely with computational and experimental scientists to support internal campaigns and other research activities. The individual in this position will also play a role in developing AI Proteins’ computational tools as opportunities arise. This position will be fully in-person.
Primary responsibilities
● Work closely with wet-lab scientists to diagnose and resolve computational challenges
● Assist end users in proactively maintaining their computational equipment
● Ensure maximal productivity by coordinating maintenance and upgrade schedules
● Onboard new users into AIP’s computer systems and ensure proper functionality of job-relevant programs and systems
● Develop and maintain local networks to optimize performance and security
● Proactively maintain and optimize laboratory information management systems by ensuring alignment between software capabilities and end user priorities
Additional responsibilities
● Develop novel applications to empower users to manage complex molecular data sets
● Propose and develop innovative software solutions to address imminent scientific needs
● Continuously and comprehensively assess our extant and proposed computational tools to maximize efficiency and ensure optimal alignment with our broader scientific goals.
Qualifications
● A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent field
● Industry experience is preferred
● Knowledge of relevant programming languages, such as Python, R, and/or Java
● Ability to work independently while also building relationships with colleagues
● Deep familiarity with network engineering
● Experience with Linux, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems
● Familiarity with virtualization and containerization
