The Axel Group is currently seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our growing construction team, specializing in stick-built multifamily residential projects in the Greater Philadelphia Area. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to be hands-on in the field while learning directly from experienced leadership on complex, ground-up builds.
In this role, you will support the Project Manager by managing critical administrative and coordination tasks such as RFIs, submittals, change orders, and requisitions, while also assisting the Superintendent in overseeing daily site operations, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining project documentation. You will help drive schedule adherence, quality control, and communication across all phases of construction.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Manager in the preparation, submission, and tracking of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and requisitions.
- Collaborate closely with the Superintendent to assist in day-to-day field operations and subcontractor coordination.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and tracking of project schedules.
- Review and interpret contract documents, including general and subcontract agreements.
- Participate in project meetings to support planning, coordination, and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, site logs, and progress photos.
- Contribute to safety compliance efforts by participating in inspections and enforcing protocols on site.
- Assist in implementing quality assurance and quality control procedures to meet construction standards.
- Monitor project budgets and assist in tracking costs to help ensure projects remain within financial targets.
- Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment to support construction schedules.
- Facilitate communication between the project team, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to promote efficient workflow and timely resolution of issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in field construction, with a strong preference for multifamily stick-built project experience.
- Proficient understanding of construction methods, contract administration, and project documentation.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage subcontractors and coordinate field activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with owners, design teams, field staff, and trade partners.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in construction management software's.
