Oscar de la Renta is hiring an Associate Fabric Buyer
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing and overseeing the raw materials supply chain process from bulk purchasing (fabric/trim), production, and the release of goods for garment manufacturing for domestic and import production
- Ensure timely delivery of production orders and coming up with quick solutions for issues that may arise during the production stages, and involving/calling out to production any issues that would affect the T&A calendar
- Involved in costing for each collection (RTW and Bridal)
- Handle Italy production reports.
- Review reports and take care of fabric shortages through transfers or ordering as needed, run/ review open issue sheets, run/review negative avail reports,
- Handle all yarn purchasing for knits.
- Handle Import Cutup Programs
- Costing - all hands-on deck, cost sheets, reviewing garments, building colors into GCS, Fabric buy (FDSs/prep work)
- Ensure that fabric is shipped on time in alignment/accordance with seasonal TNA Calendar.
- Call out any fabric delays/issues to each respective production team
- Problem solved daily. Expect that issues will be resolved within 48hours. Inquiries for possible solutions to go out on the same day as the problem arises. Next expect answers from the mill so that a decision can be made to proceed. Full follow through.
- Each member’s work will be organized in the same manner, so that if one person is out, the other person can easily follow up where she left off. We are cc-ed on ALL e-mails
- Manage inventory together. We work with inventory twice per year and can’t take off.
- Follow up delivery dates and enter GCS.
- Review bulk approvals with manager and sends approval e-mails to mills. Send Shipment Notice e-mails to appropriate receiving parties and completes receiving’s in GCS except for WH 01, which the team will do themselves there. However, sometimes we need to do WH01 as well.
- Review fabric charts with manager weekly with updates/callouts as necessary.
- Review priority chart with the manager
- Help with Cutup Programs
- Takes care of Costing during shows with manager.
- Run / Review Negative Avail reports.
- During market stay late and weekend require for costing, color building etc.
- Handling requests from Account Services if necessary.
- Work with the color Palette for each season. RTW & Bridal.
- Working as 1 unit. Each has primary responsibilities; however, we are a team and help each other to get each of our tasks completed.

- Available to stay late and come in on weekends if needed during collection.

PO binder must be organized as follows:
- Copy of PO w/copy of bulk standards sent to each mill. Sample approval cuttings even rejected pieces.
- If carryover item, can ship bulk, but at the same time must get a ref sample cutting
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in textiles, design or relevant field preferred
· 3 years’ experience
· Proficient in Photoshop and excel. A2000( GCS) is a plus
· Clear understanding of general fabric development process
· Solid fabric construction knowledge and understanding
· Very organized and detail oriented, strong problem solving skills
· Must be self-directed and a fast learner, be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
