The Job
WB Games is looking for a User Researcher with an intense passion for gaming and science to work on games for all platforms including consoles, PC, and mobile. As a User Researcher you will conduct research groups through in-person test sessions where data is collected on our games using a variety of methods including usability, playtesting, and 1-on-1. During each session you will observe participant behavior and communicate that information back to the group. You will also be responsible for choosing the methodology, authoring any questionnaires, and writing up findings to present directly to development stakeholders. Experience running research sessions is critical.
The Daily
- Prepare and execute research studies.
- Lead user research tasks on mid-level portfolio titles and/or work to support Senior Researchers on flagship projects
- Determine appropriate research methodologies and craft associated surveys as required
- Recruit the necessary amount and participant profile for each study
- Submit nightly notes/observations for each test
- Write research reports and debrief with various development teams
- Administer each playtest and usability session in a non-biased manner
- Develop and evolve the playtest recruitment database
- Provide findings-based recommendations as requested
- Function as the primary researcher for the Burbank research lab location
The Essentials
- Bachelor’s degree required (branches of experimental psychology, human computer interaction, anthropology, human factors, or related field).
- 3 years of experience in a related role, ideally in games user research
- Knowledge of research design, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups with authority
- Experience moderating large groups effectively without supervision
- Experience independently running a research lab is required for this position
- Excellent organizational skills
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiar with game design theory and development process for video games
- Genuinely enjoy gaming in all form
The Nice to Haves
- Familiarity with analytics is a plus

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $66,500.00 - $123,500.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
