Director of Product Development
Artful Home is looking for a strong leader, who appreciates what we do, to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the apparel product development process from concept to production, collaborating with design, technical design, merchandising, sourcing and production teams. Leads and manages the pre-production development teams in pattern making, marker and grading, and sewing. and overseeing the in-studio sample room. Oversees the calendar management of our apparel line, ensuring quality, margin, and brand standards are met across all collections. Manages budgets and develops strategies to align with our brand vision. Leads apparel design in the development of samples for proprietary, seasonal clothing collections for five seasons annually to achieve strategic organizational objectives. The successful candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong vendor relationships, and a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Include
- Leads and drives the product development process from initial concept to the final approved sample while leading a high performing team and ensuring design intent, quality, and brand standards are achieved.
- Collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional teams to include design, merchandising, planning, finance, and production.
- Leads critical product milestone meetings, to include fit, style out, pre-assortment and merchandising sessions.
- Drives product adoption, process efficiencies, and successful implementation.
- Owns and optimizes initial markup (IMU%) for all products.
- Oversees new product category to support company growth and innovation.
- Leads fit development and approval process, ensuring garments meet quality and aesthetic standards.
- Manages technical design team members, pattern makers, cutter and sewer, and marker and grading, ensuring the workflow, daily priorities and preproduction execution is set according to calendar.
- Responsible for executing the design proto samples process from initial design concept to manufacturing, including first proto, fit samples and photo samples.
Successful Candidates Will Possess The Following
- Bachelor's degree in product development, fashion design, or a related field is preferred.
- Eight (8) plus years of direct experience managing a product development apparel studio and team. Apparel experience is required.
- Deep knowledge of garment construction, fabric development, costing, and global sourcing.
- Experience with product development software - fundamental tools, Adobe Creative Suite, Gerber systems, Gerber Marker and Grading.

Salary: $120000.00 - $150000.00 per year
