Dakar Academy is an international, Christian college-preparatory school serving missionary families and the expatriate community across West Africa. Founded in 1961, the school has operated for more than six decades and draws students from more than 40 nations. Its main campus occupies six acres in the Hann Maristes district of Dakar, Senegal, with multiple campuses across Senegal and the wider region.
The school delivers a rigorous, vertically-aligned North American-based curriculum infused with a Christian perspective, taught in small class sizes with differentiated instruction. Advanced Placement courses are offered to prepare students for higher education; over 85% of graduates go on to pursue it. Instruction is designed around developing students academically, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Dakar Academy also runs a family-style boarding programme, described as West Africa's only ACSI-accredited family-style boarding programme, intended to provide a nurturing home-away-from-home environment for students whose families are based elsewhere in the region. Teachers are expected to design engaging lessons and to invest their time and talents in each student, in service of the school's stated mission of unlocking individual potential and preparing students to make a positive impact on the world.
