Description
As a Project Manager within the Marketing PMO, you’ll focus on the executional portion of programs and campaigns by supporting PMO Program Managers and Senior Project Managers who guide these high-volume initiatives from strategy through delivery. This role will also independently manage the delivery of multiple mid-level projects on time and within the established scope. This includes monitoring and managing the initiation of forecasted work, assisting in media execution support (specifications, trafficking of files, media supplier delivery, etc.), project managing work from inception to final delivery, facilitating and communicating project status, and producing recaps for completed projects.
In addition to these responsibilities, this Project Manager role includes a specialized focus on in-store signage projects and their integration into broader Rack marketing campaigns. You will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for in-store deliverables and act as a critical connector between in-store efforts and multi-channel marketing execution. By combining your expertise in in-store marketing with the ability to manage deliverables across other channels—such as digital, social, media, video, and print—you will ensure alignment, continuity, and a unified customer experience.
Responsibilities
Project Planning: Helping outline forecasted marketing work to aid in planning efforts.
- Assist Program or Senior Project Managers with Campaign & Project planning as needed.
Project Lifecycle Management: Championing the processes and workflow to safeguard consistency while flexing when required for project success.
- Document processes and workflows related to in-store deliverables, ensuring they are effectively integrated into broader Rack marketing operations
- Assists and takes direction from Program Managers or Senior Project Managers on complex, high-volume programs or campaigns by taking the lead on executional projects for various channel deliverables once the strategy and creative direction has been determined.
- Ensuring upfront project requirements/scoping are received and are aligned with the appropriate project priority and workflow
- Creating comprehensive project schedules that outline project milestones from execution kick-off to in-market delivery based on scope, timing, deadlines, and resources
- Capturing milestone dates and overall timelines regularly, validating and adjusting timelines as needed
- Facilitating project approvals for internal stakeholders
- Identifying and proactively resolving any deliverables that might fall behind schedule
- Communicating project status, approvals, risk, and delivery updates across teams and stakeholders
- Scheduling, facilitating and outlining action items & next steps for project related meetings (e.g. - project kick-offs, creative reviews, stand-ups, risk mitigation meetings, and retrospectives).
- Working with designated production suppliers to ensure delivery of project deliverables, if applicable
- Ensuring proper project closure and archive procedures are executed
Project Execution & Ownership: Manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including single-channel/store-only initiatives and larger, multi-channel marketing campaigns, demonstrating adaptability across scopes.
- Takes full ownership of projects, proactively driving them forward with minimal oversight while ensuring all deliverables align with business goals.
- Demonstrates comfort working in ambiguity and adapting to shifting priorities, maintaining focus and resourcefulness to keep projects on track.
Project Management System Coordination: Orchestrating all assigned books of work activities and documentation within the PMO technology support systems from project creation through close-out procedures.
- Certifying the system centrally houses all project requirements, schedules, documentation, and project approvals
- Managing data entry into systems as required to ensure proper project execution
- Leveraging reporting to analyze, translate and communicate trends or project insights
- Function as a skillful user of system features and functions, proactively suggesting system enhancements and shortcuts to the administration team.
Business Knowledge: Ensuring an understanding of the overall JWN business, the Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack customer and their assigned area of business (book of work).
- Stays aware of JWN business goals and performance
- Maintains a general knowledge of the target customer segmentation and how it relates to their assigned business area
- Possesses a general knowledge of forecasted goals and business results for their assigned book of work
Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in In-Store Projects: Serve as the primary expert on in-store projects, including tools, processes, and best practices.
- Provide guidance and support as the Rack Marketing PMO team absorbs responsibilities for in-store projects, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Partners closely with the Senior Project Manager to ensure in-store deliverables are seamlessly integrated into multi-channel campaign execution.
- Leverages in-store expertise to manage other marketing deliverables across digital, social, media, video, and print channels, creating a holistic approach to campaign execution.
- Act as a connector across teams, ensuring alignment between in-store and multi-channel efforts while fostering collaboration across cross-functional groups.
Qualifications
the basics:
- 2–4 years of project management experience (marketing, advertising, design, or related fields).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communication, or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of marketing deliverables across in-store, digital, social, media, video, broadcast and print channels.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management principles
- Understanding of process methodologies: predictive, agile and hybrid
- Strong willingness to learn and roll up sleeves in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to clearly articulate status, risks, and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate your co-workers, and inspire a one-team approach

Preferred
- 4-6 years of project management experience in marketing, advertising or design
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Advertising, Marketing, Mass Communication, or equivalent experience
Technincal Skills
- Proficiency using Mac OS platform
- Prior experience working in a project management software solution
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
