Position is for a Municipal Fire Chief for the City of Clarksdale, MS. Will perform a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and professional public safety assistance work in planning, coordinating, directing the activities and operation of the Department; supervises the department, sets policies for the department; prepares budgets; attends Board meetings; oversees fire protection programs. Works under the general supervision of the Board of Mayor and commissioners. Exercises general supervision over the department, supervises staff directly and/or through subordinate supervisors. Must have the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform duties: planning, coordinating, supervising and evaluating overall department operations; developing policies and procedures for the department as a whole, in order to implement directives from the Board and Mayors; plan and implement programs for the department in order to better carry out the policies and goals of the City Board; reviews performance and effectiveness of the Department; and formulates programs or policies to alleviate deficiences; Coordinates and reviews information gathered and work accomplished by various department officers; preparation and presentation of the manual budget for the department; implementation of the department's budget; planning for and reviewing specifications for new or replaced equipment in the department; directs the development and maintenance of systems; investigates and resolves grievances, prepares and submits periodic reports to the Mayor and Board; meets with elected or appointed officials, law enforcement officials, etc.
