Job Summary
The Manager, Project Management, is responsible for managing our most complex and strategic projects, while also training, mentoring and evaluating the regional Project Managers. They are accountable for the overall work of the regional Project Management department, ensuring all projects run smoothly from inception to completion and driving towards continuous departmental improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Able to effectively execute our most complex projects.
- Works directly with customer to define project requirements and expectations. Analyzes and proposes solutions, assess risks, and tracks/ communicates project milestones through project process to make sure customer remains informed and is happy with their new office space. Works efficiently with external project team (Architect, GC, Electrician, Data Vendors, etc.).
DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT
- Assumes complete responsibility for assignments and is accountable for ensuring projects are executed to client’s expectations.
- Ensure development of top performing Project Management team through recruiting, hiring, training, professional development, and coaching of team members.
- Lead Project Management team meetings to share company information and activities and review of departmental best practices.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct reports to establish performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and manage activities regarding raises disciplinary actions.
- Track and report specific PM Team metrics and assess overall workload and staffing needs for direct reports in collaboration with VP Project Operations and other department leaders, such as Design and Sales Support.
PROCESS AND PRACTICE LEADERSHIP
- Participate in cross-functional Practice Leader forum to develop and implement departmental and cross-functional goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement new Learning and Development programs and technology platforms.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, department managers, and corporate practice leaders on development and implementation of best practices.
- Provide thought leadership to collaborate and participate in departmental and cross-functional company meetings.
- Follow company established requirements for process, protocols, and cross-functional communication.
- Adhere to responsible use of technology equipment and programs.
- Maintain commitment to a high level of quality and integrity in our operating systems.
- Participate in Departmental, Branch, and All Company meetings and other key leadership meetings as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience Required
- 8+ years of project management experience in the furniture dealership industry.
- Strong understanding of furniture systems, electrical/cabling, building systems, and building codes.
- Demonstrated ability to logistically plan all phases of the project cycle.
- Ability to lead, train, and direct the work of others.
- Able to analyze data and situations pertaining to a project, and concisely communicate findings and/ or solutions to both internal and external project teams.
- Capacity to identify roadblocks and quickly/ confidently manage project and team members around them.
- Able to communicate effectively with clients, architects, installers and contractors (including electricians and data vendors).
- Communicates in a way that instills confidence with client and helps guide client to make the best decisions for project efficiency.
- Understands importance of customer input and acts with customer in mind.
- Able to work efficiently under high stress situations and manage conflict successfully.
- Able to identify core issues on a macro and micro level, then use tact and diplomacy to guide others toward best solution.
- Logical and analytical with strong attention to detail.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Proficient in other project management software platforms including PlanGrid, Box, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Google Doc, etc., or willingness to learn quickly.
- Understanding of the complexities and sophistication required to thrive in the dealer environment.
- Fluid interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a wide range of customers, vendors, personnel, and departments.
- Ability to see the big picture and integrate into day-to-day tasks and activities.
- Excellent and effective oral and written communication.
- Prior experience successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
