Position Overview
A locally managed convenience retail company seeks an experienced Retail Category Manager to lead category strategy, pricing, and merchandising across a growing network of branded convenience stores statewide. This high-impact role will shape product mix, vendor partnerships, and in-store execution to enhance customer experience and increase profitability. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, hands-on merchandising expertise, and a passion for retail excellence across diverse communities and locations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies across key product groups
- Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and SKU lifecycle
- Negotiate vendor deals, rebates, and promotional support
- Oversee planograms, store layouts, and retail execution consistency
- Supervise and direct the field merchandiser on in-store presentation and resets
- Analyze category performance and consumer trends to inform decisions
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and marketing
- Support mobile app promotions and ensure alignment with pricing systems and POS
- Travel interisland and to mainland trade shows as needed

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in category management, merchandising, or product marketing
- Experience in multi-unit retail is required
- Familiarity with retail pricing systems and SKU planning tools
- Strong organizational, negotiation, and project management skills
- Willingness and ability to travel between stores on O‘ahu, the neighbor islands, and the mainland
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
