Job Title: Project Manager 3
Agency: Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC)
Location: Onsite – Austin, TX
Rate: $100K–$110K annually (W2 only)
Position Overview:
This position supports the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and involves leading complex, high-impact projects that directly support agency operations and initiatives. The selected candidate will plan, manage, and oversee the full project lifecycle including timelines, budgets, documentation, and team coordination. This role requires proven experience managing enterprise-level projects and deep knowledge of project management tools, risk analysis, scheduling, and reporting. A current PMP certification is required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of assigned projects within scope, timeline, and budget
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables
- Monitor project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
- Identify risks and issues; develop mitigation strategies and escalate when necessary
- Create and maintain project documentation including schedules, status reports, and resource plans
- Coordinate and lead meetings, including status reviews and stakeholder presentations
- Ensure project results align with business goals and comply with HHSC standards
- Mentor and support junior team members as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 7 years of experience managing IT or business projects
- Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet)
- Experience working in or with government/public sector environments is a plus
