Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for production and support of the City's video and multimedia communications products. Supports operation of the Government Access Channel which includes taping, broadcasting and archiving City Council and other meetings. Supports creation of promotional videos and graphics for the organization to include to Government Channel, website and social media outlets.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Perform live production including City Council Meetings, board and commission meetings and events to include set up of cameras, audio and lighting equipment.
Support production of informational, promotional and training videos including coordination, video shooting, lighting, audio, and editing.
Produce programs and broadcast information for the city channel including graphic messages and video.
Support production of broadcast news packages and programs.
Assist in scheduling video playback on Government Access Channel.
Perform minor maintenance on equipment as needed.
Assist departments with their Audio/Video needs in City Council Chambers.
Take still photos and video for use in videos and other projects.
Design graphics for print, video, web and social media that promote City programs and services.
Assist in producing and sharing content on the City's YouTube channel.
Produce and distribute audio/video tape copies when requested.
Accomplish other duties as assigned.
Non-essential Functions
Serves on various employee committees as necessary.
Required Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education And Experience
- Associates degree in videography, broadcasting, communications, radio/television/film, or related field and
- Two (2) years directly related experience in video production, television, broadcasting, multimedia; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and equipment used for video production, television broadcasting, and multimedia products.
- Ability to utilize video cameras, sound equipment, lighting equipment, editing equipment and related video and audio equipment.
- Ability to effectively utilize skills for television program creation, development, production and editing.
- Knowledge of broadcast video principles and techniques.
- Ability to create graphic designs for multimedia products.
- Ability to utilize computer applications as related to areas assigned.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; excellent spelling and grammar required.
- Ability to work independently and productively.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, the general public and other professionals.
Supplemental Information
Special Requirements
Must have a Texas Class C driver's license by date of hire.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and irregular schedule as needed.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Sound and lighting controls, video recording and playback equipment, Audio/Video timing and scheduling devices, video and image editing and creation systems, video cameras, digital camera, televisions, overhead projector, telephone, personal computer, hand tools, fax and copy machines.

The employee is exposed to eye strain from display terminals and back and neck strain from constant keyboard work.
