Position Overview
The Forward Deployed AI Engineer will work directly with Centex Technologies' customers to understand their greatest problems and design AI-driven solutions. This role involves building LLM workflows on a large scale, implementing them into production environments, and driving real-world impact for our clients. You will function similar to a hands-on AI startup CTO, owning the delivery of high-stakes projects with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to quickly understand their greatest problems and design data-driven AI solutions
- Build and deploy LLM workflows at scale in real-world production environments
- Interact with customers to understand their needs and help set their AI strategy
- Apply an engineering mindset to deliver production solutions with Generative AI, data processing pipelines, and advanced analytics tools
- Focus on solving real business problems rather than academic benchmarks
- Unpack complex problems and understand the costs and consequences of potential solutions
- Learn and implement new technologies and languages as needed for project success
- Take ownership of projects from beginning to end, working through any obstacles encountered
- Collaborate internally with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical individuals
- Contribute learnings from the field back to Centex Technologies' product suite
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Machine Learning, or related technical field
- 1+ years of relevant, post-college work experience in AI/ML implementation
- Past experience building solutions with LLMs and a deep understanding of the overall Generative AI landscape
- Strong foundation in Machine Learning basics (Evaluation, Training, Problem Decomposition)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar
- Highly analytical mindset with proven ability to solve complex technical problems
- Experience working with large-scale data systems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals
- Comfort working in rapidly changing environments with dynamic objectives
- Strong communication skills for technical discussions and executive presentations
- Prior experience in consulting, customer-facing roles, or technical implementation preferred

Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, operate a computer, and perform other light office tasks. The ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally may be required.
Work Environment
Primarily an office environment with interaction with colleagues and occasional interaction with external stakeholders.
Work Status, Schedule, Travel
- Full-time
- Monday – Friday
- Travel up to 25% to client sites. Additional travel may be required for training or project meetings.

Required Skills

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Machine Learning, or related technical field
- 1+ years of relevant, post-college work experience in AI/ML implementation
- Demonstrated experience with LLM applications and workflows in production environments
- Experience with AI model evaluation, training, and problem decomposition
- Project experience demonstrating the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
- Experience working directly with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- Prior experience in consulting, customer-facing roles, or technical implementation preferred
