Position Overview:
The Retail Success Manager will serve as the front-line representative for Sluggers as we expand into the New York market, driving high-impact merchandising, promotional initiatives, and localized marketing with dispensary partners. This role is crucial to ensuring Sluggers stands out on shelves and in the minds of consumers by securing premium in-store placement, building strong retail relationships, and executing programs that move product and build brand loyalty across the state.
Key Responsibilities:
● Build and maintain relationships with dispensary managers and decision-makers to ensure Sluggers is prioritized in-store
● Secure premium merchandising placements (end caps, displays, shelf space) and maintain brand standards
● Plan and execute localized promotions and sampling events in collaboration with retail partners
● Coordinate co-branded email campaigns and ensure ongoing communication with dispensary teams
● Provide retailers with training, tools, and resources to support sales and product education
● Oversee execution of all retail marketing activities and conduct store visits for quality control and feedback
● Track performance of retail programs and make data-driven recommendations
● Stay current on NY cannabis trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities
Qualifications:
● 3+ years in retail marketing, account management, or sales (cannabis or regulated industry preferred)
● Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
● Experience with in-store promotions, merchandising, and co-branded marketing
● Self-starter comfortable traveling across the New York market
Preferred Skills:
● Experience in the cannabis industry or a similarly regulated market
● Knowledge of cannabis retail marketing regulations and compliance requirements
● Proficiency with CRM systems and retail performance tracking tools
● Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Managerial Responsibility:
This position does have managerial responsibilities and will oversee a team.
Travel Requirements:
Light travel is expected for this position to attend marketing events and to visit corporate on occasion.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, employees will be required to walk, stand for sustained periods, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds. Employees will be required to use hands, fingers and arms to grasp, pull, twist, reach, and push as needed to operate basic tools. Employees must be able to push, pull, and stop carts and trolleys. Must be able to see, hear, and communicate operational and safety instructions. May be required to lay on the floor or climb stairs. May be required to wear hearing, eye, respiratory, hot/cold, or fall protection. Regular exposure to raw cannabis flower and other cannabis-derived materials and products is expected.
