Position Overview
In this role, the Business Development Manager will be instrumental in driving growth by identifying new business prospects, building long-term relationships with potential clients, and leading efforts to secure high-profile infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase the company’s market footprint, all while ensuring long-term sustainability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Market Expansion:
Seek out new business opportunities in the heavy civil sector, including but not limited to infrastructure, transportation, and utilities. Formulate and implement development strategies aligned with company goals for growth.
- Client Engagement & Relationship Building:
Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, including government agencies, municipalities, and prime contractors. Act as the primary liaison, addressing client needs from the initial inquiry to project completion.
- Proposal & Bid Leadership:
Oversee the preparation and submission of detailed bids and proposals, ensuring the content showcases the company’s unique capabilities. Take a lead role in negotiating project terms and securing contracts.
- Market & Competitive Analysis:
Keep an eye on evolving industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging market opportunities to position the company advantageously. Offer insights into pricing, market positioning, and strategic direction.
- Internal Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership:
Work closely with senior management to ensure business development efforts align with the company’s long-term strategy. Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee a seamless transition from business acquisition to project delivery.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development or project management within the heavy civil construction industry.
- Proven success in securing large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, including regulations, bidding procedures, and key industry players.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking capabilities with a focus on business growth and market expansion.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
