POSITION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Coordinator manages the transportation, documentation, and distribution of laboratory specimens and materials. Ensures timely and accurate shipments, including sending samples to sister labs and returning completed cases to clients. Responsible for maintaining accurate records, scanning and sorting specimens, updating the logistics database, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel within a 5-mile radius to FedEx: Mileage will be reimbursed.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations related to the handling and transport of medical supplies.
- Work closely with internal departments to align logistics operations with organizational needs.
- Send out testing to sister laboratories for procedures not completed in-house, ensuring proper packaging and timely delivery.
- Ship samples for testing and unstained materials as required.
- Receive, document, and maintain accurate records for all incoming and outgoing specimens and materials.
- Coordinate and conduct shipping consultations to ensure proper packaging, labeling, and routing of items.
- Maintain the logistics and inventory database with real-time and accurate updates.
- Assist in organizing and transporting materials during trips to and from storage locations.
- Sort and discard specimens according to established protocols and compliance requirements.
- Organize and maintain thorough documentation for all logistics activities.
- Return completed cases to clients, ensuring proper documentation and timely delivery.
- Scan and track all cases being returned to clients to maintain a complete audit trail.
OPERATING SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Education/Training:
- High school diploma or GED; at least 0-1 year of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
Experience/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Time management skills
- Excellent communication skills.
Special Requirements:
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Ability to work extended/flexible hours and weekends based on project requirement.
