JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing a variety of administrative and technical duties for the Transportation Department. The job assignment includes, but is not limited to, supervising the daily activities of transportation operations. Responsibilities include providing dispatch, radio communications and on-the-road guidance to transit operators. Monitors vehicle operation and driver performance and schedules operator relief work assignments. Work is performed with considerable independence within the framework of established procedures, City of Conroe and departmental policies and managing the operation within the budgetary plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Requires the completion of a degree from a four-year accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and transit operation experience. Two years of experience with a municipal, state and/or federal agency in transit planning and/or management and/or processing documents (paper or electronic) to meet FTA requirements.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Supervisory principles and practices.
- Equipment malfunctions and related repair methods.
- Accident investigation practices.
- Infectious material disposal.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems using applicable hand tools.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Must have the ability to prepare clear and effective correspondence, reports and presentations, and maintain records and files.
- Experience dealing with federal, state and local agencies (i.e., DOT, FTA, HGAC, etc.)
- Monitoring and evaluating subordinate staff and preparing schedules and routes.
- Handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
