Materials Management:
As a proficient Materials Manager at ASG, you will collaborate with other materials managers to oversee the planning and coordination of a company’s inventory and purchasing departments. Materials managers are tasked with generating materials forecasts, monitoring inventory levels, and distributing supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with FDA, MDR, ISO 13485, and other regulations. Collaborate with QA to maintain safety and performance standards across the supply chain
- Supplier Management: Qualify and audit suppliers to meet medical device quality and regulatory standards
- Risk Management & Traceability: Implement traceability systems for recalls and safety. Develop risk mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions
- Inventory & Demand Planning: Optimize inventory levels, forecast demand with sales/production teams, and manage critical component stock
- Logistics & Cold Chain: Oversee safe, timely transportation, including validated cold chain processes and international customs compliance
- Product Lifecycle Management: Support supply chain from R&D to end-of-life, ensuring readiness for launches and phase-outs
- Sustainability & Ethical Sourcing: Promote ethical, sustainable sourcing and reduce environmental impact in manufacturing and distribution
- Cost Management: Negotiate supplier contracts and optimize costs while maintaining quality and compliance
- Technology Integration: Utilize supply chain software, ERP systems, and technologies like RFID/blockchain for real-time tracking and compliance
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with regulatory, engineering, R&D, and other teams to meet industry requirements and business goals
- Leadership: Mentor junior team members and interns per ASG growth policy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical area or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in materials management or a relevant role
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Behaviors
- Proficient in materials management (purchase orders, shipment tracking, inventory control, invoice reconciliation)
- Strong knowledge of FDA, MDR, ISO 13485, and global trade regulations
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Visio
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact environment
- Experience with ERP systems and supply chain software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while solving complex challenges
