Position Summary
The Brand Director will have responsibility for Matouk brand management, engagement, awareness, promotion and advertising across all business channels and audiences. The Brand Director will uphold and elevate the brand through creation of sophisticated and effective content, excellence in writing and organic media strategies, selection and management of outside agency partners, and thoughtful budgeting and resource allocation. Further, the Brand Director will lead corporate Marketing strategy and manage collateral for all channels.
The Brand Director will report to the CEO. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the Matouk brand, have an inherent sensibility for luxury products and home furnishings, and demonstrate an elevated Cultural IQ. Further, the right candidate will have experience building and managing high performance teams as well as an understanding for how a Brand Strategy team should collaborate across the organization with all stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Stewardship of the Brand
- Acquire and demonstrate authority of Matouk brand voice and values.
- Create strategy to drive the Matouk brand to the pinnacle of our market space.
- Create a strategic content plan and foster a culture where storytelling is effective, sophisticated, consistent and authentic across all audiences.
- Work with the Creative Director to specify content requirements and production strategies
- Ensure effective brand stories are integrated into matouk.com experience, social channels and other media
- Manage all resources for writing to support content for B2B and B2C channels; ensure excellence in voice, tone, clarity and accuracy.
- Create strategy, budget and purchasing decisions for effective print and digital brand advertising.
- Create communications and media strategy, and manage Public Relations and other collaborators to reach strategic goals.
- Collaborate with Schumacher and other Brand Partners to capitalize on opportunities for synergistic events, content creation and advertising. Identify opportunities to collaborate with brands who can broaden Matouk audience and product categories
Building and Executing Marketing Strategy
- Create and own annual marketing plan
- Build and own annual marketing budget and calendar
- Supervise internal and external resources to achieve strategic marketing objectives.
Customer Engagement and Corporate Marketing
- Creation of engagement strategies, campaigns, messaging and value propositions for all key customer segments: B2C, National, Retail Partners, Interior Designers, Hotel, International.
- Own all organic Social Media Strategy and Execution: build internal and external resources to tell authentic brand (manufacturing, philanthropy, sustainability, design, product) stories to increase audience and engagement levels. Collaborate with VP, Ecommerce and Creative Director to provide required content for Paid Social and other performance marketing campaigns
- Manage affiliate marketing.
- Gain consumer insights through customer research that lead to more effective sales, product and brand strategies
- Lead special events for designers and consumers. Collaborate with Merchandising and Sales teams for trade shows and other B2B events.
- Manage internal and external resources required to produce Matouk Book and other key B2B sales collateral
Leading a Successful Team and Collaborating with Leaders
- Develop and grow the brand strategy team to meet goals and maintain flexibility to respond to all conditions
- Build productive framework for cross-functional collaboration with all key internal marketing customers including Creative, Ecommerce, B2B Sales, Hotel, Merchandising, and Human Resources leaders
- Collaborate with Creative, Product Development and Merchandising leaders to effectively launch new product collections and to meet product packaging and labeling standards that are on-brand, efficient and environmentally responsible
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in brand management, marketing, or a related field within the luxury sector.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful high-end brand strategies in B2B and B2C markets.
- Experience working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI) and premium clientele.
- Deep understanding of the luxury market, premium consumer behavior, and brand positioning.
- Exceptional storytelling and brand-building skills with a refined aesthetic sense.
- Strong network within the luxury industry, including media, editors, and agencies.
- Elevated taste level, and high cultural awareness.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and external agencies.
