Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in overseeing construction projects from inception to completion. This role involves managing project timelines, budgets, and resources while ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and client specifications. The APM acts as a key point of contact between the field operations and office staff, ensuring smooth communication and project coordination.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Scheduling
- Assist in the development of project logistic plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to update and maintain project timelines.
- Coordinate with project staff to make sure that all project milestones are met according to the schedule.
Project Execution
- Oversee day-to-day operations and monitor project progress.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Assist in resolving on-site issues and conflicts to keep the project on track.
Budget and Cost Management
- Track and manage project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare cost reports and forecasts in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Ensure cost control measures are implemented and followed.
Quality Control and Safety
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular site inspections and document findings.
Communication and Documentation
- Serve as a liaison between the project team, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Facilitate project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
Team Collaboration
- Support the Project Manager in mentoring and guiding the project team, including Project Engineers and other junior staff.
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes teamwork and effective communication.
Client Relations
- Assist in maintaining strong client relationships by addressing client concerns and providing regular project update via the Project Manager.
- Ensure client satisfaction by delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Project Engineer in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control standards.
Working Conditions:
- The role involves both office work and on-site presence.
- Travel to project sites as needed.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, as project demands.
Anticipated Starting Pay Range:
$85,000 - $140,000
