ROLE OVERVIEW
As an Assistant Project Manager (APM), you will play a key support role in the planning, coordination, and execution of aviation construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and clients, you will help ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining a high standard of quality. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow into a leadership role and gain hands-on experience in aviation construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in managing contract documents and scope of work between Owner and project team.
- Support RFIs and submittal processes, ensuring timely tracking and responses.
- Participate in design reviews and support client implementation activities, including testing and final approval.
- Assist the Superintendent in coordinating survey and layout efforts on site.
- Coordinate with internal tech teams (IS group) to ensure proper technology setup for the jobsite.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets; identify potential risks and assist in mitigation strategies.
- Prepare portions of project reports related to cost tracking, schedule updates, and safety performance.
- Support project documentation control: drawings, specifications, and close-out materials.
- Review shop drawings and samples for accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
- Help maintain jobsite safety and quality control standards.
- Participate in bid review and procurement processes alongside the PM.
- Track change orders and assist with cost management and reporting.
- Attend and support internal and external meetings; track open items and follow up on deliverables.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of construction experience; aviation project exposure is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of project documents, drawings, and construction standards.
- Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, procurement, and project controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage time and responsibilities across multiple tasks.
