About the Role:
Position: Data Scientist
Location: Redmond, WA
Summary:
The purpose of this team is working on the data team for a large gaming studio. The team supports a few business lines for a large bestselling game and works directly with product owners. This role will contribute to supporting data analytics for a subscription product and marketplace projects for the game. New features are slowly being rolled out that will need analytics support, as well as onboarding support. An important aspect for the role is meeting with and presenting insights to stakeholders and product teams.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
- Minimum 8 years experience with Data analytics and presenting insights to stakeholders
- Minimum 8 years experience with SQL
- Minimum 8 years experience with Python
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain significant experience with statistics and modelling, as well as experience with SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer. Previous experience in the gaming industry or with subscriptions and monetization is also a big plus.
- We are looking for a Data Scientist (Monetization Products) with a drive to achieve high impact, high quality results for a bestselling game.
- In this role, you will be responsible for driving insights that inform the Studio’s Subscriptions and Monetization strategy.
- You’ll partner with business and engineering teams to ensure robust reporting on business metrics and make recommendations to optimize business performance.
- You will develop and lead analysis that identify key drivers of acquisition, engagement, and retention.
Job Responsibilities:
- Understand the problems and challenges facing projects and products and leverage data science to uncover important factors that can influence outcomes.
- Identify relevant data sources and datasets, preprocess and analyze data to understand business trends.
- Leverage knowledge of statistics, modeling, or machine learning to design, develop, and deploy models that meet the business objectives and requirements.
- Use business knowledge and technical expertise to provide feedback to the product teams and identify potential future business opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and validate customer perspectives.
- Leverage additional sources of insights like User Research to enhance quantitative analysis.
- Be self-driven and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete data.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in business analytics, with a focus on subscriptions or monetization.
- 8 +years of experience with SQL, bonus if familiar with SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer.
- Proficient in a statistical programming language such as Python or PySpark.
- Able to work in a collaborative, diverse and fast-paced team.
- Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills and autonomy when faced with solving data problems.
- Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills.
- Interest in games, bonus if experience in gaming industry.
- Local to Seattle area
Salary Range: $150,000 - 160,000 Annually - Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
