Job Description: Vice President of Fleet Operations
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Fleet Operations to lead our private fleet operations. This executive role will oversee one of the industry's premier private fleets, driving operational excellence, safety standards, and cost optimization while supporting our business objectives across multiple locations and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Cost Optimization
· Develop and execute comprehensive fleet strategy focused on cost reduction and operational excellence
· Lead fleet modernization initiatives with emphasis on total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization
· Build and maintain strategic partnerships with vendors to negotiate favorable terms and pricing
· Drive continuous improvement programs targeting minimum 5-7% annual cost reduction
· Conduct regular cost-benefit analyses for all fleet investments and operational changes
Operations Management & Efficiency
· Oversee all aspects of fleet operations with emphasis on cost per mile optimization
· Implement lean operational practices to eliminate waste and redundancies
· Optimize fleet utilization through advanced analytics and route optimization
· Drive preventive maintenance programs to minimize costly repairs and extend asset life
· Lead right-sizing initiatives to match fleet capacity with operational demands
Team Development & Leadership
· Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing fleet operations team
· Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including distribution, safety, human resources, supply chain, and finance
Technology & Innovation
· Implement fleet management technologies and telematics solutions
· Drive data-driven decision making through analytics and reporting
· Evaluate and deploy emerging technologies to enhance fleet performance
· Lead digital transformation initiatives within fleet operations
Safety & Compliance
· Maintain industry-leading safety standards and accident prevention programs
· Ensure regulatory compliance across all fleet operations
· Develop and implement risk management strategies
· Lead safety training and awareness programs
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
· 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fleet management or transportation
· 5+ years in executive or senior management roles
· Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements
· Proven track record of managing large-scale fleet operations
· Experience with fleet management systems and telematics, Trimble Preferred
Preferred
· Master's degree in relevant field
· Industry certifications (NAFA, CAFM, or equivalent)
· Experience in retail, furniture, or consumer goods industries
· Previous P&L responsibility
· Strong analytical and data interpretation skills

· Fuel Efficiency: Improve fuel economy by 2-3% year-over-year

· Accident Frequency Rate: Maintain <2.0 accidents per million miles
