Alchemy is looking for a Director of Logistics on behalf of a well-established moving firm in Virginia. This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced logistics specialist to manage and optimize all elements of transportation, fleet management, and operational efficiency in the moving and relocation sector. The ideal applicant will have substantial experience in logistics, supply chain management, and transportation operations, as well as excellent leadership abilities and a strategic mentality, in order to drive operational excellence and maintain high customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Oversee all logistical activities, such as transportation, fleet management, and warehouse coordination.
- Create and implement solutions for optimizing routes, lowering costs, and increasing service efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with transportation and safety requirements at the federal, state, and industry levels.
- Manage vendor connections, negotiate contracts, and monitor third-party logistics companies.
- Lead and guide logistics teams, providing ongoing training and development to improve performance.
- Collaborate with the sales and operations departments to match logistics strategy with business objectives.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and create reports to evaluate operational performance.
- Implement technologically advanced technologies to improve logistics planning and real-time tracking.
- Resolve logistics issues such as delays, damage, and customer service concerns.
- Drive continuous improvement projects that improve supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Create and manage budgets to ensure cost-effective solutions while preserving service quality.
- Stay current on industry changes and best practices to maintain a competitive advantage.
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive expertise in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, preferably within the moving or relocation industry.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, as well as prior experience managing logistics teams, are required.
- A thorough understanding of DOT laws, fleet management, and transportation compliance.
- Capability to evaluate data, optimize processes, and drive cost-effective solutions.
- Proficiency with logistics software, route optimization tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
