Check-Mate Industries has an opening for a Shipping, Receiving and Material Handling
to work in its Thomasville, Georgia Facility on 1st shift.
The shipping, receiving and material handler responsibilities include: maintains and verifies incoming and outgoing shipments. Certifications to operate the forklift and other material moving devices are required. Responsible to maintain production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory; entering information in PLEX, delivering production materials and supplies to designates areas (assembly, metal stamping, fabrication and finishing) as needed. Loading and unloading materials in addition to managing the inventory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following:
SHIPPING:
- Shipping, receiving and material handling maintains and verifies records on incoming and outgoing shipments
- Shipping, receiving and material handling prepares items for shipment utilizing correct shipping procedures (labels, rate and routes)
- Possesses knowledge of proper packing procedures to minimize damaged shipments
- Shipping, receiving and material handling posts shipping charges/rates and affix postage
- Inspects and unloads incoming shipments and documents shortages
- Ensures proper shipment specifications are being met on outgoing shipments
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Shipping, receiving and material handling possesses knowledge of shipping notices, bills of lading and other records
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities
- Shipping, receiving and material handling directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving to storage areas as well as throughout the plant between departments
- Posts weight and shipping charges and prepares bills of lading
RECEIVING
- Shipping, receiving and material handling verifies incoming shipments against invoices, orders, bills of lading or other records
- Shipping, receiving and material handling examines incoming shipments, record shortages and reject damaged items
- Shipping, receiving and material handling routes items to various departments within manufacturing
- Traces and tracks shipments to ensure timely delivery
- Monitors the returns process and maintains accurate inventory records
MATERIAL HANDLING.
- Shipping, receiving and material handling enters information into ERP System to ensure inventory and shipping accuracy
- Supplies production area with necessary raw materials
- Shipping, receiving and material handling loads, unloads and moves materials within the departments
- Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent damage
- Shipping, receiving and material handling records the number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet
- Attaches identifying tags/labels to cases, bales and other containers
- Stacks materials into bundles and bands bundles together using a banding machine
- Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bundles together, using banding machine and clincher.
- Shipping, receiving and material handling assembles crates to contain products, such as machines or vehicles, using hand-tools and precut lumber.
- Occasionally operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Minimum Requirements
- H.S. diploma or GED
- 1– 3 years of manufacturing experience and/or warehouse
- Ability to operate forklift, power jacks and other types of warehouse equipment
- Experience with inventory control, shipping and receiving functions
- Basic problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; Conflict resolution skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Able to multi-task, adaptable and an analytical thinker
- Able to utilize Micrometers, gauges, and other hand-tools for measuring and inspecting
- Able to read and follow instructions outlined in warehouse, shipping and receiving and bills
