JOB PURPOSE: The Assistant Transportation Director, under the supervision and in conjunction with the Transportation Director, is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Central KY Community Action Transportation (CK-CATS) services and staff personnel. Responsible for establishing routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and productivity. Serves as a representative of CKCATS in local communities and in relating with customers, referral sources, and vendors. Assists the Transportation Director in fulfilling his/her responsibilities and, in his/her absence, acts on his/her behalf.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Establishes a budget control system developed to assure conformance with budgeted expenditures and/or identify the need for budget revisions.
- Assists the Transportation Director in any areas delegated, i.e., preparation of funding applications, procurement, and processing of new vehicles
- Establishes and implements a marketing plan to include a program of public information to familiarize the public and other service agencies about the goals and objectives of CK-CATS
- Handles routine complaints from clients and drivers and responds to complaints. Send responses to complaints to the Transportation Director
- Responsible for applying for grants in conjunction with the Grant & Compliance Manager and Transportation Director. Follows regulated procedure for the purchase of capital equipment, including public notice advertising and conducting public hearing if applicable; procurement of all vehicle maintenance, fuel and supplies
- Assures understanding of all company policies and procedures with employees to maintain a safe, drug-free and EEO-emphasized workplace
- Maintains contact with areas of social service, health, education, and other related organizations, to assist with efforts toward coordination of transportation services within the service area
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three (3) years in a paid administrative position
- Experience demonstrating the ability to effectively manage key administrative functions such as planning, staffing, supervision, coordinating, marketing, reporting, and budgeting
- Experience in the transportation sector is a plus
- Strong communication skills; written and verbal
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree in business management, personnel administration, human resources, or related field. Two years of paid administrative experience may be substituted for each year of college education required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
