We are looking for an experienced Transportation Coordinator for our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities located in McElhattan, PA.
This position is responsible for administering and coordinating all carrier related activities to ensure that goals and objectives pertaining to Transportation, Customer Service, Finance and Accounts Payable are successfully completed.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
- Identify the preferred carrier for transport of finished goods by using TMS Software, utilizing its optimizer and routing and rating functions for all First Quality shipping locations.
- Receive and process all manual shipment request forms, including expedited requests.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal and external customers to ensure the most efficient, cost-effective transport of goods while achieving on-time delivery goals.
- Coordinate intercompany shuttle moves to include raw materials, parts, equipment and finished goods.
- Recommend service and rate opportunities in lanes based on carrier interest/availability, quoted price and carrier acceptance history.
- Compile and maintain spreadsheets to analyze data and evaluate trends such as freight costs, classifications delivery methods, delivery schedules, carrier acceptance rates and to measure performance against established metrics (on-time delivery).
- Coordinate with carriers and Customer Service when deliveries need re-appointed.
- Seek continuous improvement opportunities to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Upon request, review reports of service levels and most cost-effective mode utilization with Director of Logistics.
- Provide coverage for other Transportation Coordinators as needed.
- Provide first response support for 24/7 operations during afterhours, weekends and holidays.
- Maintain planning scorecards focused on:
- Service
- Routing Guide Compliance
- Transactional Activity (exception %)
- Value stream opportunities
Education and experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in the transportation industry.
- Transportation Management Systems Applications experience.
- Excellent collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
- SAP experience preferred.
