The Operations Manager is responsible for partnering with the Plant Manager to set and achieve S,Q,D,C metrics and to implement processes and practices to achieve them. The specific duties of this role include formulating strategy, improving performance directing resources and ensuring compliance to safety, quality and environmental standards. You should be ready to mentor your team members, find ways to increase the quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels. This position will report to the Plant Manager.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safety of all employees and ensure all policies, standard operating procedures and safety procedures are followed
- Manages all tempering & fabrication, fabrication office, assembly and shipping employees including hiring, training, planning and assigning work, safety, performance and discipline. Scheduling?
- Collaborates with team members to ensure production KPIs are met (safety, quality, cost, delivery, and 5S)
- Manages day-to-day production operations
- Monitors production and provides trouble-shooting assistance along with maintenance for process, equipment, and tooling issues
- Strategizes process improvements and acts as a sounding board for new ideas, process updates and escalation to ensure tasks are completed and on schedule
- Prepares reports for upper management and other departments to highlight performance on an ongoing and as needed basis
- Maintains a budget in line with P&L goals by monitoring spending and balance requirements against budget restrictions
- Works with procurement on and cost reduction projects
- Works to design career paths and structures expectations for employees
- Works closely with the Plant Manager to set department goals and to make plans for future growth of the department
Required Skills/Abilities
- Complete understanding of the manufacturing process with ability to implement procedures and logistics?
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and is results oriented
- Experience managing 3 shift operations
- Effective time management and planning skills
- Strong understanding of quality and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and prepare action plans to achieve results
- Strong team player and group leader
- Proficient with measurements, mathematics, fractions and strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to compare drawing fabrication to final product
- Working knowledge and implementation of Lean Mfg practices
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift glass panels up to 75lbs, stand walk, stoop, bend
Work Environment: Warehouse setting. Office setting with controlled heating and cooling.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree or comparable work experience.
Required Experience: Minimum eight years previous work experience in related industry and management role.
