Job Description
The Project Manager, Strategic Projects supports the Senior Director, Machine Manufacturing, North America, in leading and executing cross-functional initiatives that drive operational excellence and strategic alignment at the U.S. headquarters of a global pharmaceutical machinery company. The role is pivotal in coordinating key internal efforts, ensuring smooth project transitions, improving core business processes, and strengthening collaboration with the German headquarters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
Strategic Project Execution
- Independently manage assigned strategic initiatives across departments (e.g., process improvements, internal rollouts).
- Develop project plans, define milestones, coordinate resources, and ensure timely delivery.
- Apply the company’s internal project governance framework (e.g., PEP, Quality Gates).
- Report regularly to the Department Head on progress, risks, and milestones.
Operational Project Coordination
- Oversee the transition from internal technical projects to external customer orders.
- Liaise with Sales, Project Management, Assembly, Engineering and Logistics to ensure seamless order execution.
- Identify process bottlenecks and suggest practical, scalable improvements.
- Monitor and support the implementation of process standards.
Cross-Site Interface & Communication
- Serve as a liaison between the U.S. subsidiary and the German headquarters to enhance alignment and information flow.
- Support internal communication of project priorities, decisions, and changes.
- Assist in building visibility for U.S.-based initiatives within the global organization.
Support to Leadership
- Operate as the right hand to the Department Head on critical business topics.
- Prepare structured documentation, briefing materials, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic assessments and implementation roadmaps.
- Promote Quality in all aspects
Qualifications
Education and/or experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, business administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in project management or cross-functional coordination, ideally in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven organizational and time/project management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, matrixed organization.
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Negotiating skills
- Proficient in the use of office equipment
- Excellent computer skills and have an aptitude to learn new computer applications.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); project management software is a plus.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- German is not required but a plus, due to the cross collaboration with the German headquarters
- Ability to write routine correspondence and emails.
